I always wanted to start my own used bookstore. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a toddler. I had dreams of getting to spend all day in a book store, reading, and getting paid for it.
Starting a business is a hard work though and it always seemed like more of a pipe dream than anything else. So, I went to school and got my degree in childhood education and started a paid internship close by. I loved the work, but every day after I was finished I would stop by a tiny book store a few blocks away before heading home.
A few months before my internship ended a sign showed up in the door saying that it would be closing indefinitely . I was crushed, but then I was inspired. I searched commercial properties for rent close by and found that this little shop had the perfect location and it was already set up as a book store. I managed to contact the owner and work out a rental agreement. I got a small loan, purchased the books from the original owner and that became my stock, already in place.
Opening day was the happiest day of my life!
